Sentinel Event Alert Newsletters

Sentinel Event Alert newsletters identify specific types of sentinel and adverse events and high risk conditions, describes their common underlying causes, and recommends steps to reduce risk and prevent future occurrences. The Joint Commission started publishing Sentinel Event Alerts in 1998. We periodically review Sentinel Event Alerts to determine if the content is still current. Alerts with outdated information are retired and no longer appear on our website.

Note: Retired Alerts are not available for any purpose, including for educational, research or legal purposes.
